Mutation Types

Normal is the default mutation state for every fish species. Golden mutations apply a gold visual overlay and significantly increase collection and Cash value. Diamond mutations are the rarest variant, featuring a diamond shimmer effect and the highest value multiplier in the game.

Mutation status is determined at spawn time — you cannot mutate a fish after catching it. This means every bomb throw is essentially a lottery ticket for Golden or Diamond variants of whatever species appear in the blast radius.

Golden Mutation

Golden fish appear with a noticeable gold tint compared to their Normal counterparts. The spawn rate is low enough that dedicated grinding sessions yield only a handful of Golden catches. Golden mutations on higher rarity base species (Epic, Legendary) are especially valuable.

Increase Golden discovery rates by using larger blast radius bombs that reveal more fish per throw. More fish per explosion means more mutation roll opportunities per session.

Diamond Mutation

Diamond fish are the holy grail of Bomb Fishing collections. The diamond visual effect is unmistakable, and the value multiplier exceeds Golden by a significant margin. Many players spend dozens of hours hunting a single Diamond Secret fish.

Diamond spawn rates are not officially published, but community estimates place them well below 1% per fish spawn. Patience, S-tier bombs, and peak-hour server populations are the three factors that most influence Diamond catch frequency.

Mutation Hunting Checklist

• Equip the highest blast radius bomb you can afford.
• Play on populated servers during peak hours for maximum spawns.
• Target blast zones where multiple fish cluster together.
• Immediately collect all catches to avoid despawn timers.
• Replace Normal aquarium displays with any Golden or Diamond upgrade.
• Use the rare fish guide for advanced spawn zone strategies.
